Today, we take a moment to reflect on a remarkable year – 1995. It was a year filled with significant milestones that shaped our world.
In Australia, Paul Keating was the Prime Minister, and Wayne Goss was leading Queensland as its Premier. Meanwhile, across the ocean, Bill Clinton was in the White House. This year also marked the rebranding of Telecom to Telstra, signaling a new era in telecommunications. And let’s not forget the arrival of Pay TV in Australia, thanks to Foxtel and Optus Vision, which changed the way we consumed entertainment forever.
The world was introduced to a new James Bond, as Pierce Brosnan made his debut in ‘GoldenEye.’ In the realm of sports, Carlton triumphed over the Geelong Cats to win the AFL flag, while the North Queensland Cowboys made their debut in the ARL. The Canterbury Bulldogs also celebrated victory in the Grand Final. Cricket fans were thrilled as Ricky Ponting scored 96 on his test debut, and David Boon made headlines with a century in the Boxing Day Test.
Amidst all these significant events, 1995 holds a special place in the heart of Steelcad. It was the year when Todd Stanfield joined the fledgling four-man drafting team at – Steelcad.
